Environment
Restoring degraded land, protecting biodiversity and helping communities withstand a changing climate.
Protecting the Land Communities Depend On
Understanding how environmental degradation deepens vulnerability, and how AAPV restores the ecosystems households rely on to live.
When the Land Can No Longer Provide
Deforestation, soil degradation and pollution do not affect communities equally — they hit hardest where households depend directly on the land for food, income and fuel. Each hectare lost narrows what a family can grow, each felled tree makes cooking harder and the next dry season more severe. Climate change compounds all of it, turning environmental decline into a driver of poverty in its own right.

Acting at Every Stage: Restoration, Prevention and Resilience
Land Restoration Works
We reforest fallow land, plantations, hedgerows, community forests and public green spaces, returning degraded areas to productive ecological use.
Community Tree Planting
We plant cashew, moringa, tamarind, lemon and terminalia trees alongside community volunteers who take part at every stage.
Long-Term Tree Management
We monitor and maintain trees planted in previous seasons, ensuring survival rates rather than counting planting campaigns alone.
Cooking Pollution Reduction
We distribute improved stoves that cut household cooking pollution and reduce the demand for firewood driving local deforestation.
Environmental Education Clubs
We supervise environmental clubs in schools, giving pupils the knowledge and habits to protect the ecosystems they will inherit.
Producer Group Support
We support the organisational development of market gardening and soap-making groups, linking livelihoods to sustainable use of resources.
