Hygiene
Building and restoring water points, and the hygiene practices that keep communities healthy around them.
Safe Water and the Practices That Protect It
Understanding why access to water alone does not stop disease, and how AAPV works on both the infrastructure and the habits around it.
Where Water Is Near but Never Safe
In many communities, the nearest water point is broken, contaminated, or too far to serve daily needs. Where safe water is scarce and sanitation practices go unaddressed, cholera spreads quickly and open defecation keeps the cycle turning. Infrastructure alone rarely settles the problem: a rehabilitated borehole protects a community only if the practices around it change too.

Acting at Every Stage: Access, Sanitation and Prevention
Water Point Construction
We build new water points in communities where no safe source exists, from site assessment through to commissioning.
Borehole Rehabilitation Works
We restore boreholes and handpumps that have fallen out of service, returning existing infrastructure to reliable working condition.
Cholera Prevention Awareness
We raise community awareness on cholera, its transmission routes and the daily practices that stop outbreaks from taking hold.
Ending Open Defecation
We work with communities to end open defecation, addressing one of the main sources of water contamination and disease.
Handwashing Practice Promotion
We promote proper handwashing at critical moments, a simple practice that measurably reduces the spread of waterborne disease.
Community Ownership Building
We involve communities at every stage, so that water points remain maintained and used long after construction ends.
